Privacy policy – your personal information

This privacy policy explains how your information is used when you use the Find Benefits You May Qualify For service.

What information we use

The service asks a number of questions about your circumstances, such as:

The information you provide is used solely to identify benefits and allowances you may qualify for.

Some questions relate to your health or disability. This information belongs to the special categories of personal data and is protected by stricter rules.

We do not ask for your name, identity card or social insurance number, address, telephone number or email address. You do not need to sign in to use the service.

Answering is optional

Using the service and answering the questions are both optional. If you choose not to answer, the service will not be able to show you relevant results, but none of your rights are affected and no application you have already made is affected.

How we use your information

The information you enter into this service is used to provide an indicative assessment of benefits and allowances you may qualify for.

The results are based on the answers you provide and are intended for guidance only.

The service does not make eligibility decisions and does not approve or reject applications.

Your answers are not sent to the departments that award the benefits. If you decide to apply, you start again on the relevant department’s website.

Security checks

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to help protect this service from spam, abuse and automated access. Turnstile may process technical information about your browser or device to confirm that the service is being used by a person and not a bot. It does not receive your answers to the questions.

Cloudflare processes this information in accordance with its Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Cookies and your session

The service uses essential cookies so that it works correctly and remembers your answers as you move from question to question.

Your answers are held temporarily for the duration of your session and are deleted 15 minutes after you close your browser.

If you are using a shared or public computer, close your browser when you have finished.

What happens to your answers

The answers you provide are used only to generate your results.

They are not submitted or stored as an application for any benefit, allowance or government scheme. No case file, record or profile is created for you, and we do not keep a history of your answers.

A final decision regarding eligibility can only be made by the competent authority following the submission and assessment of a formal application.

Your rights

The General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights to access, correct and erase your personal data.

Because this service does not ask you to identify yourself and does not keep your answers, we are not able to locate data relating to you in order to act on such a request. This is provided for by Article 11 of the Regulation.

You can change any answer while you are using the service, using the “Back” link, or start again from the beginning.

Complaints

You can complain about the way your personal information has been used by contacting the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
